The flag of the territory of American Samoa was officially adopted in 1960. Before that year, the national flag of the United States was used.

The flag is blue and charged with a white triangle fimbriated in red. One edge of the triangle lies on the fly of the flag; the opposite vertex touches the hoist at its center.

The flag shows a bald eagle, symbolizing U.S. sovereignty. The eagle holds two traditional Samoan symbols: a fue (a fly-whisk) and a uatogi (a club).
