Flag proposal for Alabama by FlagFreak, from Originally uploaded on 14 May 2007.

Original description:

"This is my design for the Alabama flag. The current Alabama flag had just a red saltire (that's an X-shaped cross) on a white background, representing the Confederacy. There was not enough symbolism, so I added a blue five-pointed star on the top of the flag to represent the United States, and the fact that Alabama is the first U.S. state, in alphabetical order. Also, the red, white, and blue, represents the United States, again."
