Rationale: The white rectangle issuing from the hoist symbolises that Florida is a peninsular projecting into the sea. In this white rectangle is placed a blossom flower to represent the origin of the name Florida and 'flowery'. This blossom is coloured orange to serve as an allusion to the official state flower. The design is counter-changed accordingly.
