In the coat of arms, the arch symbolizes the state's constitution and the pillars represent the three branches of government: legislative, executive, and judicial. The words of the state motto, "Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation," are wrapped around the pillars, guarded by a male figure dressed in colonial attire dating back to the American Revolution. Within the arms, a sword is drawn to represent the defense of the state's constitution. An additional motto, In God We Trust, is positioned underneath these elements acting as the state's "foundation". The ring of stars that encompass the state's coat of arms symbolize Georgia's status as one of the original Thirteen Colonies.
Political pressure for a change in the official state flag increased during the 1990s, in particular during the run-up to the 1996 Olympic Games that were held in Atlanta. In 1992, Governor Zell Miller announced his intention to get the battle flag element removed, but the state legislature refused to pass any flag-modifying legislation.
This flag for georgia uses the current flag but simplifies the emblem and lengthens the canton to take up the entire left side. This makes the flag look less like the Confederate "Stars and Bars."

Georgia flag proposal by "Laqueesha". Author's note: "I combined the 1920 flag with the 2003 and got this. 13 stars represents the original 13 US states and how Georgia was one of them. Instead of 'IN GOD WE TRUST' I replaced it with the traditional US motto, 'E PLURIBUS UNUM'."

This flag harkens back to the flags of Georgia in use between 1879 and 1956, but replaces the state Seal with thirteen stars which, of course, signify Georgia's status as one of the original thirteen states. [Posted by Ken Morton, October 26, 2018]

GA Flag Proposal "apollohawkridge 2"
Red cross on white is the English St. George’s cross, representing the colonial origins and etymology of the state of Georgia. The blue field is from the canton of various flags in Georgia history, on which all had stars. The four stars themselves represent four major periods in Georgia’s history: the colonial era, the pre-Civil War era, the Civil War era, and finally modern Georgia. Georgia is also the fourth state to ratify the Constitution. The gold in the stars comes from Georgia’s state seal, and the number of stars represent the four elements in the seal: Constitution, Wisdom, Justice, Moderation. The four colors are all the official colors of the state. Posted by Preston Knapp

Pays homage to Georgia's important role in the Civil Rights Movement while using classic American colors to maintain tradition. The lone star represents Southern Identity, rather than the typical 13 stars of the Confederacy
An edition I made to Lizard-socks' flag design. I edited it to resemble Georgia's pre-1956 flags. By CeasingMango426.
Here, I recreated the design of the 1920 flag Georgia used to adopt until they adopted their infamous 1956 flag. The only difference between this and the original flag is that this has a full rendering of the state's seal on the flag (albeit still one-colored). Design by CeasingMango426.

Non-Confederate-Like with State colors, Current Coat of Arms, Peach State Pride Peach, and 4 Stars
Design by Flag Mashup Bot. Red symbolizes the iconic Georgian red clay, and black symbolizes African Americans, who have played a very important role in Georgian history. It is also a horizontal tricolor like many previous Georgian flags, invoking continuity with Georgian history.

Redesign by
DILWeed649, December 2023. This is a modernization of unofficial pre-Confederate state flags that were just the state seal's arches on a solid color field. The arches are put toward the hoist to match those flags' emphasis of them, but I added an embattled stripe and statehood-representing star to the end to keep it from being too plain. The stripe references the embattled chevron from the coat of arms of James Oglethorpe (colonial Georgia's founder,) and it's also a visual representation of Georgia's initial purpose as a 'buffer colony' between the British Carolinas and Spanish Florida. Its four notches represent Georgia being the fourth state to ratify the constitution, and the three spaces between them represent the three general regions of the state (coastal plain, piedmont, and northern mountains.) The color scheme simplifies that of the current flag by dropping the yellow while keeping red as the most prominent color, representing the red clay that's common throughout the state.
