"I feel that although the current flag is well-designed, a Union Jack is not really an appropriate symbol for a flag of a US state. This design is based off of the Standard of the Governor of Hawai'i, with the addition of the paddle-and-scepter icon from the traditional flag of Hawai'i, which serves to better represent their culture and traditions than the current flag.
- Blue fess: The great Pacific Ocean and the sky
- Red fess: The rich earth of the Islands and their powerful volcanoes
- Ring of stars: The eight inhabited Islands of Hawai'i
- Paddle and scepter: A traditional symbol of King Kamehameha, the Kingdom of Hawai'i, and the traditional culture of the indigenous Hawai'ians"
