Rationale: Peoria falcon based on copper plate recalls, with its origin and name, the original inhabitants of the state – the Illinois Confederation who are succeeded by the Peoria tribe. The stripe on the hoist of the design features a counter-wheat division which recalls the agricultural industries of the state and its status as the ‘Prairie State’ owing to the grasslands that spread out to the west.
