Flag proposal for Maine by FlagFreak, from Originally uploaded on 3 August 2007.

Original description:

"This Maine flag design is, in my opinion, the perfect symbol for the state of Maine. The pine tree in the center of the flag was inspired by the pine free shading the dead elk on the Maine state flag. The five-pointed star is a symbol of the United States, and when it is on a blue background, it looks similar to the stars in the canton of the United States flag. The blue and green were inspired by Maine's current flag.

Maine's current flag is one of the worst flags in the world. Not only is it ugly, but there are two people that somehow represent the state on there, and the one furthest away from the hoist looks bored out of his mind. The design shown above is just perfect.

The flag's original design was discovered here."
