Rationale: The vertical bicolour recalls the construction of the Franco-Ontarian flag, though here only focusses on Ontarian symbolism. The official colours of Ontario, green and gold, are used in the two halves of the field. The white trillium, the provincial flower depicted here in traditional style, is placed on the hoist side to recall the provinces origins as ‘Canada West’.
