Rationale: The yellow canton recalls the world’s first national park, Yellowstone, in the north east of the State. In this is charged an American Bison, the state’s official mammal and symbol of the resilience and natural preservation to be found in both the park and the wider state. The bison is coloured a deep red-brown, with the field of the design counter-changed accordingly. The deep-red brown and golden colours are taken from those of the University of Wyoming.
